Question 1

Will replacing my windows damage my walls or wallpaper?

Accepted Answer

Removing old frames is done carefully rather than quickly. In most homes any disturbance is limited to the immediate edge of the opening, and we make good around the frame as part of the work. If we can see that a particular window is likely to affect plaster or wallpaper, we tell you before we start rather than after.

Question 2

How messy is the installation?

Accepted Answer

There is always some dust with this kind of work, so we plan for it. Floors and nearby furniture are covered, off-cuts and old frames go straight into the van, and we clear up at the end of each day rather than leaving it until the job finishes.

Question 3

Who actually comes out to quote?

Accepted Answer

Kieran or Scott. You are not passed to a commission-based salesperson, and there is no sit-down sales presentation — just a look at the job, a conversation about your options and a straightforward price afterwards.

Question 4

Can you replace misted glass without replacing the whole window?

Accepted Answer

Usually, yes. If the frame and hardware are still sound, the failed sealed unit can often be swapped on its own, which is considerably less work and less cost than a full replacement. We will tell you honestly if the frame itself is the problem.

Question 5

Do you repair windows and doors as well as replace them?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Handles, hinges, locking mechanisms, misted units and doors that have dropped or stopped closing properly are all everyday work for us. Repairing is often the sensible option and we will say so.

Question 6

What happens after I request a quote?

Accepted Answer

We get in touch to understand what you are considering, arrange a convenient time to visit and measure where needed, then send a clear written quote. If you want to think about it, that is completely fine — we do not chase or apply pressure.

Question 7

How long does a window installation take?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the number of openings and access, but most domestic jobs are measured in days rather than weeks. We give you a realistic timescale with your quote and tell you if anything changes.

Question 8

Can I keep the same style as my existing windows?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We can match the existing opening arrangement and style closely, or use the opportunity to change how the windows open where that suits the room better.

Question 9

Do you make good after removing the old frames?

Accepted Answer

Yes — making good around the new frame is part of the installation, not an extra. Where a room needs plastering or decorating beyond the opening, we will tell you up front.

Question 10

Do I need to be at home for the whole installation?

Accepted Answer

Not usually for the entire time, but we do need access and a chat at the start and end of each day. We agree arrangements with you beforehand.

Question 11

Which door material should I choose?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the opening, the look you want and how exposed the door is. We talk you through the practical differences between the options we offer rather than pushing one product.

Question 12

Can you fit a door to an existing frame?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes. If the frame is sound and the sizes work, a new door leaf can be an option. If not, we will explain why a full replacement makes more sense.

Question 13

Will my new door come with keys and handles fitted?

Accepted Answer

Yes — hardware, locking mechanism and keys are set up and tested before we leave, and we show you how everything operates.

Question 14

Do I need building work before bifolds can be fitted?

Accepted Answer

Sometimes. Widening an existing opening involves structural work, so we look at the opening first and tell you honestly what would be involved before you commit to anything.

Question 15

Bifold or French doors — which is better?

Accepted Answer

Neither is automatically better. Bifolds suit wide openings where you want the whole wall to open up; French doors suit narrower openings and rooms where furniture layout matters. We will give you a straight opinion for your room.

Question 16

How secure are bifold and French doors?

Accepted Answer

Modern sets use multi-point locking. We fit and test the locking on every door and are happy to talk through the specification of the sets we offer.

Question 17

Is it worth repairing an older window?

Accepted Answer

Often, yes. If the frame is solid and only the glass unit, handle or hinge has failed, a repair is quicker, cheaper and less disruptive than replacing the whole window.

Question 18

When is replacement the better option?

Accepted Answer

When the frame itself has failed, parts are no longer available, or repeated repairs are stacking up. We will tell you when spending more on a repair does not make sense.

Question 19

My door has dropped and won't close — can that be fixed?

Accepted Answer

Usually. Doors that catch or will not latch are often an adjustment, hinge or mechanism issue rather than a reason to replace the whole door.
